Advanced Life Support Transportation Service Within The Northwest Fire District
NWFD’s ambulance transportation service allows the District to have direct oversight of the care delivered to the sickest or most injured members of our community. The same paramedic team that starts care is the team delivering the treatment, synopses of events, and changes in the patient’s condition to the team of doctors and nurses at the emergency department. When treating critically injured or ill patients, time is of the essence and this arrangement simplifies our ability to deliver live-saving care. Having complete oversight of the patient from first contact to delivery to the hospital allows us to direct, monitor and measure the effectiveness of our care. We are focused on continually improving patient outcomes – meaning, fewer days in the Intensive Care Unit at the hospital, less permanent deficits, better cognitive outcomes (i.e. better quality of life for our patients).
